Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve

Eligibility Requirements - Member of Guard or Reserve unit with a 6-year obligation
- Complete Initial Active Duty Training
- Maintain a Selective Reserve Status and remain in good status
- Note: If you no longer maintain Selective Reserve Status, you may be eligible if you were a member of a reserve component who served on
- active duty on or after September 11, 2001 for a period of 90 days or more under a contingency operation
- Be a degree-seeking student or have an undeclared major for not longer than two semesters. If you are pursuing other
- educational options such as certificates, endorsements, licensure programs, contact the VA for approval

Benefits - Up to 36 months of education benefits to eligible applicants

- Eligibility is determined by the Selected Reserve components. Veterans Affairs makes the payments for this program
How to Apply and Maintain Your Benefit - Your unit must establish your eligibility by completing and submitting DD Form 2384-1, Notice of Basic Eligibility, to the
- VA Regional Office.
- You must complete and submit the Federal Student Aid FAFSA, due March 10th of each year. Visit the FAFSA website for instructions and online forms
- You must complete and submit VA Form 22-1990 (Application for VA Benefits). Instructions and the online application are on the
- Veterans Affairs web site.
- You request that your college complete and submit VA Form 22-1999 (Enrollment Certification) and send all forms to the VA.
- To continue receiving your VA payment, you must submit your verification with the Veterans Affairs each month using your VA
- Claim Number. You may do this online and click WAVE or call 1-877-823-2378
