Students transfer in all directions: community colleges to universities, universities to universities, and community colleges to other community colleges. Transfer also applies when a student stays at his/her current campus, but picks up a course from another college or university, when they go home for the summer or take a course over the Internet. A type of transfer also occurs when an international student enrolls in a U.S. college or when someone who has had military or employer training seeks to translate that into college credit.
